HNE Virtual Computer Pools Information

  • FOWVM Pool

    • Software available in both German and English desktops.
    • Set up matches the FOW Pool C1 (11.202) at the Forest Campus.
    • New since March 2022: FOWVM0x-V2018 versions are compatible with the previous version of the FOW Pool (Windows 7, English desktop).

To Connect:

  1. Click “Connect” on an available computer.
  2. Download the appropriate RDP file and open it with your Remote Desktop Client.

Important Notes:

  • Login: Use the format fh-eberswalde\YourUsername, e.g., fh-eberswalde\xyz123. Alternatively, you can enter fh-eberswalde as the domain name in the login form.

    • If only a password is requested in the login window, select “More options” > “Use another account” and enter your username as described above.
  • Session Limitation: Only one remote connection per workstation is allowed at a time. Log out of the remote computer when finished (e.g., in Windows 10: Log Off).

    • Sessions that are only disconnected by closing the window will automatically end after 10 minutes, and unsaved documents may be lost.
  • Overview of Available Workstations: The current status is only displayed if a VPN connection to the university network is active. Refresh the browser window if necessary to view the latest availability.

Additional Notes:

  • macOS Safari Users: When downloading the RDP file (.rdp) with Safari, you may need to rename it manually. Remove the .txt extension and confirm the change to an .rdp file. Downloads through Chrome or Firefox will automatically save in the correct format.

  • Security Warnings: If a security warning appears after opening the RDP file stating the publisher cannot be verified, or if you are asked to trust the certificate, you can safely proceed with the connection since you are already connected to the HNE network via VPN.
