Create an enrolment key

The enrolment key is used for the controlled self-enrolment of students in a course.
When you are in your course, click on the cogwheel (in the line of the course name on the far right). Click on the ‘Enrolment method’ button under the ‘Students’ category.
Link to ‘Where is the course administration?

The window that opens contains predefined enrolment methods. The respective methods can be deactivated or activated via the eye in the last column of the table.
Self-enrolment would be the preferred method for the enrolment key. You can adjust the settings using the cogwheel in the Self-enrolment row (next to the eye).

Important settings are ‘Allow existing enrolment’ (enrolments already made are retained), allow self-enrolment (set Selbsteinschreibung to ‘Yes’) and the assignment of an enrolment key (Einschreibungsschlüssel).

The enrolment key is defined by you and is normally not displayed, but shown as dots. If you still want to see the key, click on the eye next to the input field for the key. The key can be hidden again by clicking on the eye again.

You use the enrolment start date to specify when students can enrol for your course, e.g. from 01/09/2022, 00:00.

The end of enrolment works in the same way, allowing you to specify when it should no longer be possible to enrol, e.g. 07/09/2022, 23:59. If both times are deactivated, there will be no specific period for enrolment; it will always be possible to enrol in your course.

The maximum number of enrolments determines how many students can participate in your course.

The number 0 means an unlimited number of participants.

Save the changes.

If you now send the link to your course, you must also add the enrolment key so that students can enrol.
