Retrieving emails via a mail program

The mailboxes of the HNEE can be called up on the computer via mail programs such as Outlook or Thunderbird. There are also corresponding apps for smartphones and tablets.
There are two possible protocols for this

  • with IMAP, if you just want to check your mail
  • Exchange, to receive your mail, calendar entries, contacts, notes and reminders.
--> preferred for smartphones and tablets!

Exchange

Used e.g. by Outlook, iPhone or Android devices. Entering the email address is usually sufficient to set up the mailbox connection. If necessary, you will need the following information for the manual setup:

E-Mail adress
e.g. abc123@hnee.de or u12345@hnee.de
Servername
webmail.hnee.de
Username
e.g. abc123 or u12345
Domain
fh-eberswalde.de

IMAP

IMAP offers convenient email management, leaving the email on the mail server and only showing an overview in the email client. Depending on the client, the complete email can also be downloaded. The folder structures in the mailbox (e.g. "Sent Items", "Junk E-Mail") are displayed and can be edited. Access to the public folders is also given. However, IMAP requires a permanent connection to the mail server if the client does not use cache functionality.
In the automatic search for the correct settings, imap.hnee.de and smtp.hnee.de are often identified as settings. Please overwrite the IMAP settings as described below!
